A Royal Question of Hosiery. Will Meghan follow etiquette for Princess Pins?

The Royal family has been staunch supporters and wearers of hosiery since medieval times. The Queen has donned sheer hosiery for almost every public appearance since her reign began and with Kate Middleton’s preference for leg perfecting, shiny tights, the look has continued to go hand in hand with royal appearances.

However, with Meghan Markle set to join the firm this spring, swapping LA & Toronto for Kensington Palace – will she to be turning to hosiery to keep her legs looking fresh, toned and sun-kissed?

Here at The Tight Spot, we’ve got plenty of Princess worthy tights, stockings and holds ups. So with some hints from Kate’s Style advice and our hosiery expertise – these are the designs that we think Miss Markle needs to add to her hosiery draw asap!

A Wintery Walk About

Meghan could wear Wolford Neon 40

Kate loves a statement coat with blackout opaque tights and boots or pumps. It’s her go-to uniform for winter engagements – when it’s blowing a gale under grey skies Kate always looks polished, warm and sensibly dressed.

For Meghan, who isn’t in the full flow of tight-wearing weather just yet – we would recommend the Wolford Neon 40. Allowing heavier coverage but also giving an edgier, semi-sheer look that has been championed by the British fashion pack this season. Seen on Alex Chung, Daisy Lowe and Kate Moss – a sophisticated nod to British style icons.

Red Carpet Event

Meghan could wear Levante Senza Toeless Tights

Kate often goes for a floor length gown – adding drama with a thigh slit. With that much wow factor a beautiful, barely-there finished adds leg-perfecting style without the added impact of gloss. Cecilia De Rafael Miss 20 Tights have a better than bare finish and a completely seamless brief so no reinforcements or seams will give away your trick to stunningly smooth legs.

Judging from Meghan’s style, she’s less likely to go for a full gown and loves strappy sandals and high fashion shoes. Therefore it’s got to be toeless! Levante Senza Toeless Tights have a fabulous, natural look and the open toe element means they can be matched with any fancy footwear required.

Royal Affair

The Duchess of Cambridge loves structured dresses, gloss tights and heeled pumps for Royal events and occasions. These luxury Italian Trasparezne Silk Tights offer the glamorous shimmer that Kate is so often seen sporting.

For a more subtle shine, we’d suggest Meghan to try the Wolford Satin Touch 20 Tights. They look fabulous and give a polished look with a more understated shine that we think matches Meghan’s cool style perfectly. Available in four different skin tones from dark caramel to pearly marmor, they suit a number variety of skin types.

High Society Summer Wedding

Meghan wears Trasparezne Ambra Fishnet Hold Ups

As seen at her sister Pippa’s lavish affair this summer, Kate’s wedding look is feminine and sophisticated. Falke Shelina Hold Ups give a fabulous finish to legs. Smooth, soft and silky – Falke Shelina range comes in tights or hold ups with toeless options in both so can be suited to all types of outfits.

For Meghan, whose style is a little more relaxed, we suggest the Traspaezne Ambra Fishnet Hold Ups. Offering light coverage in four glorious skin tones these nude net stay ups are a chic way to wear fishnets and give a sophisticated finish to bare skin.

We hope Kate continues her love affair with hosiery and introduces Meghan to it’s benefits.

Whilst there’s no doubt that Kate’s hosiery draw is teeming with Wolford legwear, we’re yet to see the Duchess in any Wolford bodywear – one thing that Meghan could perhaps introduce Kate to! Meghan’s smart casual look is all about chic, foundation pieces like the Wolford Colorado Body that she’s been spotted in a number of times this winter.
